ABC Petitioners Told To Correct Violations

Posted

Two businesses with beer, wine and liquor permits up for renewal Thursday had violations to correct before the Kosciusko County Alcoholic Beverage Commission.

King's Keg, North Webster, was cited for allowing minors in the business.

Charles T. Pinnick, owner, said it was a mistake and the business' first violation in 21 years. He said he is trying to recover the violation fee from the minors.

The permit for King's Keg was renewed.

RC's Pier, Syracuse, had several violations, including allowing minors in the tavern and on the premises and gambling in the business.

Tim Cleveland, excise officer, said they received complaints about Richard and Cinda Eyer's grandchildren being in the business every day. "That happens quite frequently," he said.

ABC member Gordon Vanator said having gambling in the establishment "is a pretty serious offense."

"It's a felony," said Cleveland.

Cinda Eyer said this is the first violation the business has had, and, while she is still a stockholder in the company, hopes to get out of the bar business soon.

"(It's the) first (violation) I know of in six years, but we get complaints of it quite frequently," said Cleveland.

The permit was approved.

In another matter, Wawasee Golf Club, managed by HG Enterprises, received approval for its petition for a new retailer permit for beer, wine and Sunday sales. They plan to open Memorial Day. The petition was continued from April so paperwork could be finished.

HG Enterprises also manages Stonehenge Golf Course.

Automatic renewals approved included:

• Quackers, Syracuse, beer, wine and liquor and Sunday sales retailer permits.

• El Arriero, Warsaw, beer and Sunday sales retailer permits.

• Pizza Hut, Warsaw, beer and wine and Sunday sales retailer permits.

• VFW Post 1126, Warsaw, beer, wine and liquor retailer permit.

• Lil's Anchor Bar, Syracuse, beer, wine and liquor and Sunday sales retailer permits.

• Spike's, Warsaw, beer and wine retailer permit.

Members of the ABC include president Darwin Call, Gordon Vanator, Ken Johnson and excise officer Patty Fleck. They meet at 2 p.m. in the county courthouse, Warsaw, on the first Thursday of every month.
