NORTH WEBSTER - Heart of the Lakes Antique Mall will start its 10th year in business in April.
Karen Kann, owner of the antique mall, said the business started out of her own love of going to antique stores.
Knowing that those who like to frequent antique stores will travel all over, she decided to open her shop up at 132 N. Main St., North Webster.
It is located at what was formerly Rinker's Variety Store.
The store utilizes 10,250 square feet of space.
Kann said that Heart of the Lakes has an eclectic mix of items.
"It's not a typical antique store," said Kann. "We have items from old to new. It's bright, cheery and a lot of fun."
Heart of the Lakes has 70 dealers with 92 different booths.
"There is a lot of vintage clothing and accessories," said Kann. "There is also a lot of good costume jewelry. There is a lot of retro."
Heart of the Lakes also has Door County Pottery on hand.
And being in a lake community, Kann said, the store has a number of nautical items.
"Our store covers the gambit," said Kann.
Heart of the Lakes also does a big sale during the Dixie Days.
Kann and her husband moved to the area from Lake County several years ago.
She said there wasn't the antique scene and auctions there is in Kosciusko County. She worked in the building where Heart of The Lake is now. When that building went up for sale, she said, it was the perfect time to start her own venture.
Heart of the Lakes Antique Mall is a family business. Kann's daughter, Sandi Burger, helps run the store.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Sunday.
