It has been seven years since the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

A 9/11 remembrance ceremony will be Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. at Glover Pavilion in Central Park, Warsaw.

The community is invited to bring their lawn chairs for the event. If it rains, the ceremony will be in Center Lake Pavilion.Speakers include James Marshall, Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department deputy, and Robert Rich, Indiana State Police captain, whose brother was a state trooper.

Ed Rock, Kosciusko County emergency management system director, will sing a patriotic song.

A Battle of the Badges blood drive will be Sept. 9 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Center Lake Pavilion. The Battle of the Badges blood drive is being sponsored by the American Red Cross.

There will be a competition between local police, fire and emergency management systems to see who can get the most blood donated for their group, according to Larry Peppel, executive director of the Kosciusko County Red Cross.

"This is a friendly competition to honor our local first responders by encouraging the community to donate blood," Peppel said.

The public and first responders are asked to donate blood either in honor of their favorite group or favorite first responder.

The group who raises the most blood will be announced during the 9/11 ceremony.
