8th Annual Heirloom Tomato Festival & Agricultural Art Show A Big Success

Posted
The 5k/2 mile walk was an early morning success (see Main Street Pierceton Facebook page for results). With over 50 vendors and food booths, over 1,100 people came to Pierceton to experience all this festival had to offer.  Oldies 101.3 talked to many attending and the four local authors and illustrator signed books for guest. Everyone enjoyed the Goldmine Pickers, Heirloom Tomato display, fancies tasting inside The Old Train Depot, speeches outside under the tent, demos of fitness techniques and the 3rd Annual Agricultural Art Show.
Keeping it in the family, Bev Hathaway was the grand prize winner with Days Past (photography), her husband Rex won last year, Elizabeth Wamsley received Second and Honorable Mention for Bramble Vine Raku pot and Blueberry Tea Pot respectively.  The People’s Choice Award went to Fran Wallen for a water color Heirloom Treasure.  One last winner was Deloris Kirkham for her sweet tomato pie. Kirkham also won citizen of the year earlier this season.
The 150th Birthday of Pierceton celebration combines with the Heirloom Tomato Festival Aug. 26 to 28. 2016.
