At Goshen, wrestlers from Tippecanoe Valley, Triton and Warsaw competed in Saturday's Goshen Regional.

Only one wrestler from the three schools, Warsaw's Adam Harter, will advance from the regional.

Harter (112 pounds) went 2-1 on the day. He beat Northridge's Jason Hosler in the first round then beat Prairie Heights' Nathan Kuhn 19-4 in the second round. He lost to Lakeland's Travis Landers 8-3 in the championship match to settle for second. Harter owns a 35-8 record.

First through third places all move on to the semistate.

Warsaw's Aaron Banks (135) just missed out, finishing fourth. He beat Angola's Matt David, who owned a 28-2 record, 4-2 in the first round. He lost to Northridge's John Artley, who entered 32-4, 8-7 in the second round. Then he lost to Mike Sanders 9-7 in the last round to finish fourth.

Warsaw's Scott Snyder (103), Greg Patrick (119), Tim Roe (125), Robbie Boley (130), Carl Hartwell (152), Chris Wilson (160), Steve Fribley (171), Marvin Farmer (189), Steve McKinley (215) and Chris Godwin (275) lost their opening matches.

"It's frustrating," Warsaw coach Tony Boley said, "because every kid had reached his goals prior to the regional. Hartwell lost by one point. The kids Roe, Patrick, Farmer and Boley lost to are advancing."

Whitko, Manchester

At FW Snider, the Manchester Squires and the Whitko Wildcats competed at the Ft. Wayne Snider regionals. Both squads got one member of the team to move on to the Adams Central Semi-State.

The Wildcats were disappointed with their results.

"We made some mistakes that cost us," Whitko head coach Brian Balsmeyer said. "You can't do that at this level."

Scott Barker, one of two Whitko seniors, came into the competition with a 33-0 record. Despite losing his first match of the year, he still qualified with a second place finish.

Mark Rakoczy, the other Whitko senior, also came in undefeated at 21-0. He failed to qualify as he was defeated in the first round.

"We're happy for Scott and disappointed for Mark," Coach Balsmeyer said. "They have shown great leadership during the season."

For Manchester, Greg Groombridge finished third with a 2-1 record, qualifying him for the semi-state competition.

Todd Grube of Whitko and Shane Hoffman of Manchester both finished fourth. They are both alternates.

Barker and Groombridge will compete Saturday.
