Six candidates will vie for three positions on the Kosciusko REMC Board of Directors at the electric co-op's annual meeting April 16.
Incumbents Terry Bouse, Rick Parker and Tom Shively are opposed by candidates Col. Rolland Fearnow, Lindy Breeden and Gordon Vanator respectively.
A long-standing cooperative tradition, this year's annual meeting is the 72nd for the electric cooperative.
It will be held at Warsaw Community Church, 2300 Ranch Road, Warsaw.
Doors to the event will open at 8:30 a.m., and members can participate in a variety of activities during a pre-meeting expo. Scheduled activities include health screenings by Kosciusko Community Hospital Health & Wellness Center, bucket truck rides (weather permitting), geothermal and energy advisor displays, kids activities, free doughnuts and coffee and more.
Also at the event will be the Warsaw/Kosciusko County Chamber of Commerce "Show of Hands" community art display. The giant hands representing area businesses and communities were created to celebrate the Chamber's 100th anniversary in 2011.
The business meeting will convene at 10 a.m. In addition to the board election, other meeting highlights will include executive reports, announcement of the 2011 Touchstone Energy Camp and Washington, D.C., Youth Tour delegates, and entertainment.
This year's entertainment will take members back to circa 1963 with "Forever - The Tribute", a nationally-recognized Beatles tribute band based in Crawfordsville.
In addition, children ages 3-12 will have their own program to attend featuring Boogie Heads Entertainment from Michigan Center, Mich.
The supervised program allows children to make their own animated music DVD. Also on hand will be the Possum Ranch face painters.
Attending members will receive $8 credit on their electric bills, and will also have a chance to win one of many door prizes, including a 32-inch HDTV or an XBox360 with Kinect gaming system, electric bill credits and more. Kids will also have special door prizes, including an electric scooter.
"This year's annual meeting should be a lot of fun, and we encourage every KREMC member to attend," said President and CEO Steve Rhodes. "Every member has the right to help decide who will help lead KREMC into the future, and voting at the annual meeting is the way to exercise that right."
Kosciusko REMC is a Touchstone Energy® electric cooperative serving more than 17,000 members throughout Kosciusko County and into surrounding counties.
