ETNA GREEN - The apparent hanging death of a 5-year-old Etna Green girl is under investigation by the Indiana State Police and the Kosciusko County Coroner's office.
Lakeasha L. Baggs, 209-1/2 Walnut St., Etna Green, was pronounced dead at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, at 10:46 a.m. Sunday, about 40 minutes after the girl's mother, Michelle Baggs, called 911.
The victim and another child were playing in a bedroom of the residence. The mother found the girl hanging from a play structure in the room. The girl reportedly had a bathrobe belt around her neck.
The child reportedly was unresponsive when emergency crews arrived and transported her to KCH.
An autopsy is scheduled for today at St. Joe Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
