The 5-year-old boy recovered from Pike Lake Tuesday has succumbed to his injuries and died.

According to a news release Friday night from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, the incident is still under investigation by Indiana Conservation Officers.

The boy’s name has not been released.

His body was recovered Tuesday night after he went missing while swimming.

At approximately 7:14 p.m. Tuesday, emergency personnel responded to Pike Lake Beach in Warsaw after a child was reported missing in the water at the swim area.

Witnesses reported the boy was swimming in the public swim area near shore when he could not be located. The boy was later found unresponsive by a family member near the public swimming pier in approximately 5 feet of water.

Emergency personnel from multiple departments responded to the area and provided CPR and lifesaving aid, the release states.

The boy was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital by paramedics and later flown by Lutheran Air to Fort Wayne, where he underwent treatment. On Wednesday, a DNR spokesperson said the boy was in critical condition.

Responding agencies included Warsaw Police Department, Warsaw-Wayne Fire Department, Lutheran Hospital Paramedics and Indiana Conservation Officers.
