On April 22, five Whitko High School students passed an American Welding Society Welder Certification test. Zach Baughman, Brent Klingaman, Bradley Anders, Garrett Cokl and Jesica Sparke earned national certifications in either the Gas Metal Arc Welding or Gas Tungsten Arc Welding process. They demonstrated their skills at Whitko High School. Each student certifying in the GMAW process deposited a 6-inch, overhead square groove weld, with 100 percent penetration throughout the bead. Each student certifying in the GTAW process produced a 6-inch, aluminum, square groove weld with 100 percent penetration. This specimen also was required to pass a bend test. The tests were overseen and inspected by AWS Certified Welding Inspector John Christman. Pictured (L to R) are: Sparke, Anders, Klingaman and Baughman.
