Kosciusko County Community Fair kicks into high gear today, but under somber conditions for fair organizers who learned earlier in the day about the passing of a longtime fair supporter, Roy Bradbury.

Bradbury was a longtime board member for the fair and died today at the age of 81.

He had been a part of the fair for 48 years.

Wednesday will mark the third running of the “Roy Bradbury Classic,” a micro-sprint race at the Warsaw Motorsports Complex inside the fairgrounds campus.

The event is named after Bradbury, who was also a longtime flagman at auto races at the fairgrounds years ago.

Meanwhile, fairgoers might have to weather some rainy conditions today and later this week.

After Sunday’s kickoff parade that began in downtown Warsaw and headed to the county fairgrounds, the fair opens today with the opening of the midway at 6 p.m. A rodeo is set to begin at 7:30 p.m.

Opening ceremonies were set to take place at 6 p.m. today at the fairgrounds.

The IPRA World Championship rodeo begins at 7:30 p.m., with gates opening at 6 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $6 for children 6 to 12 years of age. Children 5 and under will be admitted for free.

Tuesday’s main event will feature a Monster Truck Bash in the grandstand. Admission is $10 for adults and $6 for children. Children 5 and under will be admitted for free. A pit party begins at 6 p.m.

Kosciusko County was among several in northern Indiana under a severe thunderstorm warning by the National Weather Service early today, and heavy rains were possible for tonight.

A strong chance of rain will loom over the area until Friday when sunny skies and a high of about 80 is predicted.

Tuesday is kids day and will feature $1 rides on the midway.

Tuesday’s forecast calls for a chance of thunderstorms early in the day. The expected high will be 83 and the low will be around 70.
