40 Days

Editor, Times-Union:
This Wednesday, Sept. 28, Kosciusko County Right to Life once again kicks off their 40 Days for Life, which is 40 days of concerted prayer for an end to legalized abortion in our nation and to pray for those who are considering abortion that they would seek the face of God and know that they and the little child growing within them are a gift from God.

We cannot win this battle for love and life against abortion without prayer. God promises in his word that whatever we ask for in prayer we will be given. This is not always in our time and may not come as we want it to, but God does hear and will answer. Since the 40 days prayer events were started several years ago, 16 abortion centers have been closed across the country and around the world and countless children’s lives have been saved. Abortion numbers are also going down in this county. So no one can say that our prayers are unheard or unanswered. This concerted effort of prayer is praying directly against the evil of Satan that the love of God would prevail in the lives of men and women in this community.

It is easy for us in Warsaw to become complacent and take for granted that our quiet and for the most part peaceful community will always remain this way and after all abortions are not actually performed here locally, so why do we need to be involved in this? Abortions may not be performed directly in this county, but over 2000 abortions have been performed on Kosciusko County women since 1982 (when records were started). Our expectant mothers are referred to other counties who do perform abortions.

While we appreciate those who wave in support of our prayer effort, we would appreciate it even more if you would stop and join us in prayer. It is difficult to get enough people to cover 12-hour shifts over a 40-day period. Having said this, though, you don’t have to pray in front of Planned Parenthood in order for your prayers to be heard. Will you even consider praying from your home or office over the next 40 days for an end to abortion?  And to the police officers who drive by, we would appreciate your support as well. Believe it or not, what we are doing can and will serve to make your job easier as lessening abortion rates and ultimately ending abortion will lower crime rates and bring more peace to our communities.

40 Days this year kicks off at 5:30 p.m. on the lawn of Bob/Nelson Conley Barbershop at the corner of Prairie Street and South Buffalo Street in Warsaw. If you are interested in participating and praying along with us, please visit www.40daysforlife.com/Warsaw for more information. You will be joining people in 48 states plus the District of Columbia and several foreign countries who are also praying for the same thing in their communities. Will you join us?
