CLAYPOOL - A 4-year-old boy is back home after wandering off early Sunday morning.

Gary and Joyce Beverly, North CR 450W, Claypool, called Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department at 7:15 a.m. Sunday.

The Beverlys stated they observed a small boy walking south on CR 450W in front of their residence. The Beverlys said they brought the 4-year-old boy inside and tried to find out his name and where he lived.

While trying to locate the child's home, KCSD deputy Derek Kreider was stopped by an uncle of the child who informed Kreider where the boy lived.

When Kreider arrived at the residence, he encountered a 17-year-old girl who stated she was the boy's babysitter.

The babysitter said she and the child fell asleep on the couch, and after getting up several times during the night, with the child, she slept until she was awaken by the child's uncle.

The boy's mother, who was at work at the time, was informed of the situation by police.
