4-H Royalty Hopefuls Named

The 2006 4-H King and Queen, Prince and Princess will be crowned July 13 during the 4-H Public Fashion Review and Awards Night.

The event begins at 7 p.m. at Lakeview Middle School.

This year's candidates are:

Queen candidates:

Jenna Ruch is the daughter of Doug and Doreen Ruch. She is a 10-year 4-H member active in the Milford Helping Hands and Junior Leaders clubs. She has taken projects, including consumer clothing, foods, crafts, gift wrapping, photography, swine and sewing. She is a 2006 Wawasee High School graduate and will begin at Purdue University in the fall to study consumer and family science.

Sarah Banghart is the daughter of Stew and Beth Banghart. She is a 10-year 4-H member also active in Milford Helping Hands and Junior Leaders clubs. She has taken projects in swine, poultry, consumer clothing, gift wrapping, soil and water conservation and forestry. She is a 2006 graduate of Wawasee and will attend University of Northwestern Ohio to study ag business.

Kelly Darr is the daughter of Dennis and Leslie Darr. She is a 9-year 4-H member active in Syracuse Community Hands and Junior Leaders clubs. She has taken various projects: beef, swine, dairy feeder steer, crossbred feeder steer, foods, crafts, fine arts, consumer beef, consumer pork and consumer poultry. She is a senior at Wawasee and plans to attend Purdue University to study nursing.

Kristin Conley is the daughter of Mark and Jodi Conley. She is active with the Silver Lake Rambling Farmers and Junior Leaders clubs. She is a 9-year 4-H member and has completed projects in baked foods, preserved foods, microwave cooking, diary foods and alfalfa. She is a 2006 Warsaw Community High School graduate and will attend IUSB in the fall to major in mass communications and public relations.

Amanda Wise is the daughter of Mark and Deb Wise. She is a 10-year member active in the Mentone United and Junior Leaders clubs. She has taken projects including beef, swine, goats, foods and photography. She is a 2006 graduate of Tippecanoe Valley High School and will begin at Purdue University in the fall.

Shelby May is the daughter of Jim and Luanne May. She is a 9-year 4-H member active in Hoosier Llama Lovers and Junior Leaders clubs. Her projects include llama, poultry, foods, consumer food, consumer clothing, dairy, dairy foods, soil and water conservation, gardening and floriculture. She is currently a senior at Tippecanoe Valley High School and plans on attending Purdue University after she graduates.

King candidates:

David Lash is the son of John and Darlene Lash. He is a 10-year 4-H member active in Mentone United and Junior Leaders clubs. He has taken swine. He is a 2006 TVHS graduate and will attend Huntington University this fall to study business management and play basketball.

Heath Shock is the son of Doug and Jill Shock. He is a 10-year 4-H member of Wee Webster Workers and has taken projects including dairy calf, feeder steer and poultry. He is a 2006 Wawasee graduate and will begin at Anderson University this fall to study business.

Brad Goon is the son of Jon and Tina Goon. He is a 9-year 4-H member and belongs to the Atwood Neverquitters. He has taken various projects including woodworking, electric, swine, poultry and beekeeping. He is a 2006 WCHS graduate and will begin at IPFW this fall and later transfer to Purdue University to study poultry science.
