4-H Auction Total Up From 2000

The 4-H Livestock Auction sales totaled $232,094.28, an increase of $3,619.64 from 2000.

The auction was held in the show arena at the Kosciusko County fairgrounds beginning at 10 a.m. July 13.

Beef - 74 lots sold for $95,961.71. Grand champion steer, owned by Beau Brumbaugh of the Milford Helping Hands 4-H Club, sold for $2.60 per pound, for 1,320 pounds, or $3,432.

Reserve grand champion steer, owned by Cami Leininger, Burket Country Neighbors 4-H Club, sold for $1.25 per pound for 1,270 pounds for $1,587.50.

Dairy calf feeder steers - 39 lots sold for $21,482.04.

Grand champion dairy calf feeder steer, owned by Trent Martin, Silver Lake Rambling Farmers, brought $1.70 per pound for 538 pounds, or $914.61.

The reserve grand champion dairy calf feeder steer did not sell.

Rabbits - 27 lots sold for a total of $4,580.

Grand champion meat pen, owned by Bradley Clayton of Wee Webster Workers 4-H Club, brought $600.

Reserve grand champion meat pen, owned by Jason Ross, Monroe Go-Getters 4-H Club, sold for $200.

Goats - 34 lots sold for $6,015.

Grand champion milking doe - best doe of show, owned by Brooke Moore, Pooch Patrol 4-H Club, sold for $350.

Grand champion wether, owned by Brock Harmon, Atwood Neverquitters 4-H Club, sold for $325.

The kiss of 4-H King Matthew Roberts, Syracuse Community Hands 4-H Club, was bought by Tom Brothers and presented to Kelly Easterday for $200.

Roberts Farms bought the 4-H Queen's kiss of Gail Rathbun, Beaver Dam Better 4-Hers, for $200. The kiss was awarded to auctioneer Dennis Polk.

Money for the kisses will be donated to the 4-H Memorial Gardens.

Sheep - 47 lots sold for a total of $13,445.12. The grand champion market lamb and reserve grand champion market lamb did not sell.

Dairy products - 18 lots sold for a total of $8,475.

Grand champion Holstein, owned by Tom Lozier, Leesburg Mighty Farmers 4-H Club, sold for $2,050.

Grand champion grade Holstein, owned by Tracy Tom, Wee Webster Workers 4-H Club, sold for $2,000.

Poultry - 41 lots sold for $5,860.

The champion fryer owned by Heath Shock, Wee Webster Workers 4-H Club, sold for $675.

The reserve champion fryer owned by Jonathan Roberts, Pierceton Hayseeds 4-H Club, sold for $200.

Swine - 181 lots sold for $71,427.37.

Grand champion barrow owned by Kurt Kammerer, Leesburg Mighty Farmers 4-H Club, sold for $17 per pound for 228 pounds for a total of $3,876.

Reserve grand champion barrow owned by Jacob Polk, Atwood Neverquitters 4-H Club, sold for $12 per pound for 250 pounds for a total of $3,000.

Pork loins - Dairy calf feeder steer barn improvement fund - 10 lots sold for $2,825.

Pork loins - 4-H Goat Club - 10 lots sold for $1,625.
