4-H Auction Nets $425KKosciusko County’s 4-H auction on Friday generated $425,389.07 in total sales.
Figures and details were released by the county extension office this morning.
“Overall, we had a great sale because of tremendous and generous support from the community,” said Kelly Heckaman, the county extension educator.
“All market prices were down for all livestock, but we still had an increase over last year’s sale,” Heckaman said.
The auction was highlighted by the sale of the Grand Champion Beef Steer, which was exhibited by Andon Zehring, Leesburg, whose steer weighed 1,385 pounds and sold for $15,700.
The Reserve Grand Champion Beef Steer, exhibited by Collin Deatsman, Leesburg, weighed 1,365 pounds, and brought a purchase price of $8,525.
The Grand Champion Dairy Calf Feeder Steer, exhibited by Jared Beer, Milford, weighed 616 pounds, and attracted a purchase price of $2,525.

• Grand Champion Rabbit Meat, exhibited by Katie Schmidt, Warsaw, was purchased for $1,600.
• Grand Champion Specialty Market Goat, exhibited by Jaden Moneyheffer, Akron, weighed 85 pounds, and was purchased for $1,550.
• Grand Champion Dairy Market Goat, exhibited by Asher Meyer, Warsaw, weighed 72 pounds, and was purchased for $2,500.
• Grand Champion Senior Doe-Goat Milk, exhibited by Jason Moore, Warsaw, was purchased for $1,300.
• Grand Champion Market Lamb, exhibited by Jackson Templin, Milford, weighed 130 pounds, and was purchased for $9,035.
• Reserve Grand Champion Market Lamb, exhibited by Mallory Bowers, Warsaw, weighed 133 pounds, and was purchased for $3,500.
• Grand Champion Barrow, exhibited by Emma Patrick, Warsaw, weighed 271 pounds, and was purchased for $6,500.
• Reserve Grand Champion Barrow, exhibited by Allie Ayers, Warsaw, weighed 283 pounds, and was purchased for $11,885.
• Grand Champion Market Turkey, exhibited By Cassie Garber, Warsaw, was purchased for $3,000.
• Grand Champion Market Duck, exhibited by Evan Yoder, Warsaw, was purchased for $2,800.
• Grand Champion Broilers, exhibited by Kimber McSherry, Claypool, was purchased for $1,395.
• 4-H Queen Kiss, provided by Madelyn Zimmerman, Milford, was sold for $3,115.65. Proceeds go toward the Beaver Dam 4-H Club & John Anglin Memorial Show Arena.
• 4-H King Kiss, provided by Jackson Templin, was sold for $2,250. Proceeds go toward Beef Barn.
