A 3-year-old Warsaw girl is in fair condition at a Fort Wayne hospital after being run over by a vehicle in her driveway.
Jordan Michelle Shepler of South Logan Street, Warsaw, was pulled out from under the Chevrolet Blazer by her father, Ty Ronald Shepler, 30, of the same address.
According to Warsaw police, Ty Shepler was backing his vehicle out of the driveway when he felt the tire of the vehicle strike something. The toddler apparently ran behind the vehicle and was not seen by her father.
When the elder Shepler got out to see what he struck, he saw his daughter under the left rear tire. He then got back into the vehicle, back up and checked again. The girl's hand was still under the tire, so Shepler backed up a little more, then pulled the girl out from under the vehicle and laid her on the ground beside the driveway. He told police that the child at first didn't move, but then began moving and crying. He was holding the girl when police arrived at the scene.
An accident report noted that Jordan had scrapes and slight bleeding on her upper legs and face and scrapes on her chest and sides.
The child was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital after the 9:25 a.m. accident and later flown by helicopter ambulance to Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne.
