Regarding #1. A very good end result for Kosciusko County since we are the orthopedic capital of the world. Therefore, I recommend pursuit of the high-speed rail objective.
In the meantime - remember when Warsaw had a depot that had a train stop there? Why not pursue reactivating that, and soon? Until a high-speed rail can, heaven knows what decade that might come to pass, if all goes at the highest expectations?
Regarding #2. I'm one for keeping taxes as low as feasible, but instituting this sort of legislation into the state constitution? I'm with you, Gary, on this one and also am sending a survey to Senator Gary Dillon, to this effect that I do not support capping taxes on various properties. No doubt would just have to repeal it someday when it became necessary to do so.
Regarding #3. I believe in families at risk for abuse, neglect and delinquency need help. But just how many dollars does it take for them to be "helped"? Payroll for 225 people each week for "helping" 10,000 in our state of Indiana. Who's paying for the new gymnasium under construction here in Pierceton and at how much cost? Maintenance for these facilities is a big consideration.
Cannot these people be guided toward employment or volunteer help in the community? Use some of the present ballparks and skateparks already in place here? Or did these things come to pass without my noticing until now?
