ELKHART COUNTY – Three Kosciusko County residents were injured in Elkhart County Saturday night when a car and motorcycle collided.

Noel Sparks, 49, Milford, the driver of a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro, complained of pain to the right lower leg, according to a news release from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office. He refused medical treatment at the scene.

Bobby Burchett, 64, Warsaw, the driver of a 1991 Honda GL1500A, dislocated his left hip, suffered road rash and had minor scrapes. He was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment of his injuries. He was not wearing safety equipment.

Carol Burchett, 60, Warsaw, the passenger on the Honda motorcycle, suffered a broken left hip and arm, had hand scrapes, road rash and complained of pain to the neck, the release stated. She was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment of her injuries. She was not wearing safety equipment.

The news release states Sparks’ Camaro was stationary at the intersection of Ind. 15 and CR 20 at about 8:20 p.m. Saturday. Sparks then proceeded west through the intersection. Burchett’s motorcycle was southbound on Ind. 15, approaching CR 20. There was another vehicle stopped at the intersection, waiting to turn east from Ind. 15 onto CR 20. Burchett drove on the passenger side of the stopped vehicle to proceed south, and then Sparks’ Camaro pulled in front of the motorcycle.

Burchett’s motorcycle hit the front passenger side of the Camaro, causing Bobby and Carol Burchett to be ejected from the motorcycle.

Sparks had three passengers in his Camaro, but the news release did not indicate if any of them suffered any injuries. Sparks was cited at the scene for failing to yield to the right of way, the release states.
