3 Hurt In 2-Car Crash In WarsawThree people were injured in a two-vehicle accident Monday that backed traffic up for a bit in Warsaw.

The collision occurred at about 12:25 p.m. at the intersection of South Detroit Street and East Winona Avenue.

According to a Warsaw Police Department crash report, Felisha C. Acosta, 22, West Church Street, Leesburg, said she was traveling south on South Detroit Street in a blue 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. At the intersection with Winona Avenue, she began to turn east onto Winona Avenue. While turning, she hit a black 2005 Jeep Rangler SUV, driven by Chelsey S. Sexton, 36, West CR 800S, Claypool. The SUV was headed north on Detroit Street.

Acosta said at the scene, she did not see Sexton’s SUV and has depth-perception issues.

Sexton said she was going north on Detroit Street and that while crossing the intersection with Winona Avenue, the pickup truck turned in front of her SUV. Sexton was unable to prevent the truck from hitting her SUV.

The crash report notes northbound and southbound traffic on Detroit Street at the Winona Avenue intersection do not have green arrows to turn left. They have a green light that requires them to yield in order to turn.

Acosta complained of chest pain.

Sexton complained of pain in her arm and hand. She declined an EMS transport and said she would take herself to have her injuries checked out.

A passenger in Acosta’s vehicle, Samantha Warren, 11, West Church Street, Leesburg, complained of pain to the chest.

Damage was estimated at $10,000 to $25,000.
