LEESBURG - A Pierceton man is in jail after breaking into a neighbors' home, claiming he feared for his life.
The man then led police to what was believed to be the beginning of a meth lab.Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department officers responded to a call at a home on CR 700N, Leesburg, after it was reported Kane Edward Hively, 27, Pierceton, was in the home of an elderly woman. Hively allegedly told the woman he feared for his life and was trying to find a safe place to hide.
When police arrived, Hively was sitting in a rocking chair.
Police stated they believed that, due to Hively's actions, he was under the influence of narcotics.
Hively then notified police that a meth lab was under operation in the home next door.
Police stated they found precursors for a meth lab in a field on the property of 368 E. CR 700N, Leesburg.
Kyler Lee Northrup, 23, Leesburg, and James Joseph Meyer, 25, Cromwell, were both arrested at the residence.
According to police, both subjects also were determined to be under the influence of an illegal drug and unable to care for two children that were in the residence. Both men were preliminarily arrested for neglect of a dependent. Meyer also was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Allen County for failure to appear.
Kosciusko County Drug Task Force officers at the scene advised that further charges are possible pending the investigation into the dismantled meth lab. The lab had been previously located in the garage prior to officer's arrival.
