2021 Fair Activities Announced

Posted
With the Kosciusko County Fair starting in less than a month, Second Vice President and Director of Emergency Operations Nathan Rhoades has announced the 2021 activities for the summer event.

The Fair will be July 11-17, according to a news release from Rhoades.

“The Fair will have many attractions that will interest the young to the childlike in spirit. For our on-grounds entertainment, we will have an Australian exhibit where you can come and see the wonders of the land down under. The tiger show will also be here, the big cats are always amazing to see. What a wonderful way to see these beautiful animals up close without being their afternoon snack. There is always lots to do and see during the fair. Come walk through the barns and see all the hard work the 4-H kids have done with all their projects. The activities tent will be busy and the grandstands have events every night,” the release states.

Grandstands are free with admission to the grounds.

Sunday night, after the opening ceremonies, there will be an antique tractor pull. The tractors date back to when farmers pulled one and two bottom plows, working long hours in the elements.

Monday night, there will be the Broken Horn Rodeo, where riders come from all over the nation to compete. “So whether you like to see bull riding or calf roping of a goofy clown, they have it all,” according to the release.

Tuesday will be kid’s day for them to come out and ride the rides. There will be a free breakfast and lots of hands-on activities for them. Silly Safaris will be giving a show. There will be a surprise visit from Spider-Man and Wonder Woman. Then in the evening, get ready for the big monster trucks, the high-jumping car crushing trucks. The louder you cheer the more they put on a show. There will even be a ride truck so you can see what it’s like to ride on one of those big bad trucks, according to the release.

Wednesday, the pie-baking contest is back. Have your pie turned in to the office by noon judging. At 3 p.m. is harness racing. Riders come from all around to race their horse against another. “If you have never seen one, this is your chance. This high-octane event is limited to 1 horse power though, so come out and see the race,” the release states.

Thursday evening is the draft horse pull. This is like a truck or tractor pull but with a big team of draft horses. “It’s not every day you get to see these amazing animals show their strength. It is a time where the connection between the team and there master work hand in hand to pull their sled the farthest. Don’t miss out,” according to the release.

Friday is the demolition derby with winner take all. Who will be the one still moving at the end of all that ramming and jamming? Nothing better than seeing cars crash on purpose.

Saturday is the truck show and shine during the day, and then followed in the evening by the truck and tractor pull. High horse power, smoke bellowing, these drivers give their all to get down the track the farthest.

This is just some of the events happening at the fair, so pick up your fair book for a complete listing of the 2021 Kosciusko County Fair.
