2007 Is Money For Eddie

Eddie Money said 2007 is turning out to be a great year.

He has a new album out, "Wanna Go Back," that he said is a "great little record" that fans and critics alike are praising.

He's working on writing a Broadway musical partially based on his life. He said the music for it already is written.

On top of that, he's having fun on tour.

Money will be at the Wagon Wheel Theatre, Warsaw, Saturday at 7 and 9:30 p.m. Tickets are available.

For his latest album, Money recorded songs by the likes of Ray Charles, James Brown and other R&B hitmakers from the 1960s. Songs include "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," "Higher and Higher," "You Don't Know Me" and "Please, Please, Please/Oh Baby Don't You Weep."

In a telephone interview Tuesday afternoon, Money said people seem to love the songs. He gets a lot of good response when he performs them on tour.

"Everyone definitely will get their money's worth," Money said.

Once an artist does a greatest hits CD, Money said, people lose interest in that artist. Though he hadn't recorded since the mid-1990s, he didn't want to release a greatest hits collection. He wanted to make a new album with a lot of classic R&B hits.

"I think the greatest music in the world ... came out in the mid-'60s," he said. "This album really catches it."

His favorite track off the new album is his cover of "You Don't Know Me." He said it's a great song.

Warsaw fans will get exposed to his versions of the classic hits, as well as some of his 26 Top 100 hit songs.

"We've got a lot of fans in that town," Money said of Warsaw. The last time Money performed in Warsaw was three to four years ago, he said.

And Money said he likes to tour.

"I like getting out of the house. I have five kids," he said, adding that he likes to see his fans' eyes light up when he performs.

"God has blessed me with a great career," he said.
