Three 21-year-old men died in Kosciusko County Memorial Day weekend in two separate car accidents. Both are believed to be alcohol related.

On May 29, at about 3:15 a.m., a car driven by Jamin Dilley, Warsaw, went out of control near the intersection of Old Road 30 and Hunters Ridge Drive, Warsaw.

Dilley and a passenger, Jason R. Krygowski, Warsaw, died after being ejected from the car.

According to police, Dilley's car appeared to have been traveling at a high rate of speed before leaving the roadway's southern edge and striking several trees and a cement block. The car came to rest in a residence's front yard and then burst into flames.

Warsaw Fire Department extinguished the fire. Dilley was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, where he was pronounced dead. Krygowski was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department was assisted by Warsaw Fire Department and Multi Township EMS.

At 5:29 a.m. Monday, another car went out of control, killing a Bremen man, Kenneth Schmucker.

Schmucker's vehicle was headed west on CR 1350N, east of CR 950W, when it hit an area of standing water. The car went out of control, leaving the roadway's right side. The car went into a ditch, slid around 180 degrees and hit two trees with the driver's side.

Schmucker suffered extensive head injuries and was transported to Elkhart General Hospital, where he later was pronounced dead.

According to the police report, an initial certified blood test showed Schmucker had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.10 percent.

Nappanee Fire Department and EMS service assisted the sheriff's department at the scene.
