A two-vehicle collision along U.S. 30 west of Warsaw sent three to the hospital early afternoon Friday. Just before 2 p.m. a report of a crash and rolled vehicle at the intersection of U.S. 30E and CR 350 came into Kosciusko County emergency dispatch. Crews arrived to find a 1999 Chevrolet Sonoma pickup truck flipped and sitting in the passing lane of eastbound U.S. 30, and a battered 2003 Honda Accord sedan close by. Emergency workers freed the Sonoma’s driver as it lay upside-down on its roof, the contents of its bed scattered throughout the roadway. The sedan sat just adjacent, its front end badly damaged. From what investigators gathered, the Accord, driven by Peter B. Graham, 28, Chicago, was eastbound on U.S. 30 when the Sonoma, driven by 85-year-old Lucille M. Bowerman, Warsaw, crossed over 30 on CR 350W and into the path of the Accord. The impact flipped the Sonoma. Bowerman was pulled from her truck by emergency workers and taken to Kosciusko County Hospital in fair condition, complaining of abdominal pain. Graham and his passenger, his brother, 27-year-old Samual D. Graham, also of Chicago, were uninjured in the crash, but transported by a sheriff’s deputy to the hospital to be checked out. Both drivers and the passenger were wearing seatbelts, the sheriff’s department said.Bowerman told investigators the Accord blended in with the asphalt of the roadway and she did not see it approaching, the department said. U.S. 30 eastbound was closed for roughly an hour as officials worked the crash, and eastbound traffic was averted onto CR 350W by Indiana State Police troopers. The Atwood Fire Department, along with the Indiana State Police, assisted the sheriff’s department in the crash.
