2 Still At Large After Friday Bank Heist

Posted
Two men are still at large following a robbery at a Lake City Bank branch in Warsaw Friday morning.

At around 9:40 a.m. Friday, two men entered the Lake City Bank branch at 420 Chevy Way, north of Lakeside Chevrolet, Warsaw.

The suspects were dressed in all black. They wore sunglasses and both were armed with pistols, according to Warsaw Police Department detective Joe Hawn. The robbers told the tellers to lie on the floor.

No one at the bank was injured though one customer did walk in during the robbery.

Hawn said both men covered their faces and both were described as around 6-foot, 2-inches tall with thin builds.

The two men were in the bank less than two minutes, Hawn said, and fled with an undisclosed amount of money from tellers' drawers and the bank's vault.

They left the bank in a Blue Buick Rendezvous that was reported stolen Thursday in Elkhart.

It was originally reported the two men left in a mini-van.

The Rendezvous was later found by off-duty KCSD officer Chris Rager behind a grain bin off Old Ind. 15 near Leesburg.

A possible second vehicle used in the robbery is a 2000 to 2005 gold Chevy Suburban-type vehicle driven by a white female with brown hair pulled back in a ponytail.

Hawn said there have been recent robberies in the South Bend/Mishawaka/Elkhart area that are similar in some respects to the one at Lake City Bank.
