WABASH - Country music artists Wynonna and Vince Gill return to Wabash this spring.
Nineteen-time Grammy Award winning country music artist Vince Gill returns to the Ford Theater June 6 at 7:30 p.m. for an evening of down-home hits, sponsored by Beacon Credit Union and D & J Radabaugh Inc.
In August 2007, the Country Music Association inducted Vince Gill into the coveted Country Music Hall of Fame - a tribute to a storied career which began at an early age when Gill's father first taught him how to play guitar and banjo.
Over the next few decades Vince would go on to build a career that would sell more than 26 million albums, earn 18 CMA Awards, including Entertainer of the Year in 1993 and 1994. He is tied with George Strait for having won the most CMA Male Vocalist Awards (five), and is currently second only to Brooks and Dunn for accumulating the most CMA Awards in history.
Wynonna, whom Rolling Stone Magazine once referred to "the greatest female country singer since Patsy Cline," returns to the Honeywell Center May 2 at 7:30 p.m.
Since her record-breaking, quintuple platinum debut solo CD, 1992's Wynonna, which reached No. 1 on the Country chart and loomed in the Top 5 of Billboard's Top Albums chart (producing four No. 1 singles), the singer has remained one of country's most recognizable, yet unpredictable icons. With her first studio album in six years, "Sing: Chapter 1", Wynonna celebrates 25 years of her epic journey by giving us a garden-seat glimpse of those extraordinary influences and the songs that inspired her.
"If you want to hear a singer's singer - one who can move you to the core of your being - Wynonna's deeply moving 'Sing: Chapter 1' is a fine place to begin. This may be her finest hour," raves the All Music Guide.Tickets for each of these shows are $27, $47, $67 or $100 and went on sale Tuesday. Tickets may be purchased at the box office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, by calling 260-563-1102, visiting online www.honeywellcenter.org or by dialing *tix from your Centennial Wireless phone.
