Two semis collided late Sunday night on U.S. 30, with the wreckage taking over three hours to clean up.
According to information provided by Warsaw Police Department Public Information Officer Capt. Brad Kellar, the accident occurred at 11:51 p.m. Sunday in the eastbound lanes of U.S. 30 at Silveus Crossing (CR 150W), Warsaw. Preliminarily, he said, it appears the white box semi was stopped or coming to a stop at the intersection, traveling eastbound.
The flat bed with apparatus attached was either not paying attention or traveling too fast and, as he was beginning to overtake the first semi, the driver attempted to swerve but struck the rear of the box semi. This caused significant damage to the trailer of the box semi and the cab of the flat bed.
There was a significant amount of cleanup and it was over three hours before the roadway was completely cleared, Kellar indicated. The driver of the box semi was transported to the hospital for a complaint of head pain.
