Two drivers were killed Monday morning after a three-vehicle crash on Ind. 15.
According to Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Sgt. Chris Francis, police were dispatched at 10:43 a.m. Monday to Ind. 15, south of CR 1000N in Van Buren Township, to a three-vehicle collision.
According to preliminary results of the investigation, Ray L. Frost, 77, of Larwill, was driving a 2012 Nissan Rogue north on Ind. 15 prior to the collision.
As Frost was attempting to pass a northbound vehicle in front of him, his vehicle struck a southbound 2007 Pontiac G6, driven by Ciera N. England, 26, of Leesburg.
Frost’s Nissan continued northbound in the southbound lane and struck a 2005 Honda Odyssey minivan, driven by Mary L. Velazquez, 51, of Winona Lake.
Frost was partially ejected and pinned under his SUV, which had rolled, Francis said.
Velazquez was extricated from her minivan by the Milford Fire Department.
Both Frost and Velazquez were pronounced dead at the scene by the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office.
England was taken by ambulance to a Warsaw hospital for complaint of head pain.
The crash remains under investigation by the KCSO Fatal Team, Francis said.
Responding agencies included KCSO, Indiana State Police, Milford Police Department, Milford Fire Department, Lutheran EMS and the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office. Estimated damage is between $50,000 and $100,000.
