One-year-old Ashley Evans keeps an eye on her mother, Lisa K. Evans, 24, North Perch Road, Silver Lake, as Mentone Emergency Medical Service personnel prepare to load her into the ambulance. The elder Evans complained of neck pain after a 1:10 p.m. Sunday accident at the intersection of Ind. 25 and CR 550W, near Mentone. According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, Evans was eastbound on Ind. 25 preparing to make a lefthand turn when her sport utility vehicle was struck from behind by a car driven by Armando Ruiz, 22, East Main Street, Mentone. Upon impact, Evans' SUV rolled onto its top and skidded to a stop on the south side of the intersection. Ruiz's car then skidded across the center line and struck a westbound van driven by Richard Campbell Sr., 54, South Valentine Road, Claypool. Both Lisa and Ashley Evans - who had no visible injuries - were treated at Kosciusko Community Hospital and released. Ruiz suffered bleeding to his elbow and information on his medical attention was not available. Photo by Gary Nieter, Times-Union
