2 Held After Sunday Night PursuitPIERCETON – Two people were arrested Sunday night after a chase began in Warsaw and went east on Old U.S. 30 before ending south of Pierceton on Ind. 13.

Arrested were Jason Patrick Spriggs, 36, of 802 W. Thorn St., North Manchester, and Rachel Beth Kratzer, 35, of 2118 S. Packerton Road, Warsaw.

According to Winona Lake Police Chief Joe Hawn, Winona Lake officers Riley Arvanitis and trainee John Leeper attempted to pull Spriggs over on Argonne Road near Jefferson Street in Warsaw. It initially appeared Spriggs, driving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, would stop on Argonne, but he pulled away.

Spriggs led officers east on Old U.S.?30, where a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy deployed stop sticks. Spriggs then turned south on Ind. 13 through Pierceton. The tires failed while driving through Pierceton and Spriggs brought the truck to a stop south of town.

Hawn said Spriggs told officers he had swallowed some heroin during the chase. Spriggs was taken to a hospital to be medically cleared before being booked into the Kosciusko County Jail.

Spriggs was charged with reckless driving, driving while suspended, resisting arrest, false informing, obstruction of justice, possession of meth and a felony failure to appear. There was no bond on the failure to appear charge and a total of $10,500 cash and surety bond on the remaining charges.

Kratzer was charged with false informing, felony failure to appear, a misdemeanor probation violation and misdemeanor failure to appear. Her bond was set at $5,850.

An unidentified 18-year-old person inside the truck was detained, then released at the scene.
