Two people are dead and a Warsaw man remains at large following separate shooting incidents Wednesday evening in Warsaw.
Kosciusko County dispatch received a call at 5:11 p.m from the Phillips 66 Service station at 2518 E. Center St., Warsaw, concerning a shooting.
Phillips 66 employee Narinder Muldt made the 911 call after another employee told him the manager, Harpal Singh - referred to by Muldt as "K.J." - had been shot. The suspected shooter is Omar Mora, 31, of Warsaw. Police said Singh suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his head and chest from a small-caliber handgun. Singh died at the scene.
The shooting occurred near the entrance to the laundromat portion of the station, which is at the south end of the building.
When police arrived, they found Singh's body outside the door of the the laundromat.
"He was a nice guy. Everybody in this town knew him," Muldt said of Singh.
Muldt said at the time of the shooting the gas station was crowded with customers. No one else was hurt.
Mora fled in a black 2003 Chevy Silverado full-sized pickup truck, with a license plate of 5181T, turning east on Center Street.
The truck has silver trim on the side with ground effects and a black, hard-style cover over the bed.
Police believe Mora then headed to his residence at 1844 Vicky Lane, Warsaw, where he allegedly shot his wife, Lisa Heather Mora, 32, with the same small-caliber gun.
At 5:17 p.m., a 911 call was made from The Country subdivision where the Moras lived.
According to witnesses at the scene, Mora's two sons ages 2 and 7 were in the house along with Mora's mother-in-law.
One neighbor said he heard several gunshots then looked out his bedroom window, where the Mora residence is visible. The neighbor saw the mother-in-law running to another neighbor's house as Mora walked out of the house, got into his truck and headed northbound on Vicky Lane.
County dispatch received several calls Wednesday night concerning Mora's potential whereabouts.
Lisa Mora was pronounced dead on arrival at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
At press time, the whereabouts of Omar Mora were still unknown.
Mora is described as 5-foot-7, 170 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
Mora is believed to be armed and dangerous.
Police searched the home of one of Mora's relatives, believed to be his brother, in Nappanee but nothing was found.
Anyone with information on Mora is asked to call the Kosciusko County Dispatch Center at 574-267-5667 or 574-372-9511.
There was a report Wednesday evening, sometime after the shootings, that Mora had checked his e-mail in the northwestern part of Kosciusko County or the southern part of Elkhart County from a signal off a South Bend phone tower.
Police said the apparent motive for both shootings was that Mora became aware of an extra-marital affair that allegedly was taking place between Singh and his wife.
The last murder in Warsaw occurred in 2002 when Jason Davidson killed Samuel Creekmore.
Warsaw Police Department is investigating the shooting at the Phillips 66, while Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department worked the scene of the second shooting on Vicky Lane.
