2 City Officers Sworn In – Warsaw PD, FD recruitment videos unveiled Friday

After two Warsaw Police Department officers were given the formal oath of office, the city’s police and fire recruitment videos were unveiled Friday.

Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer gave the oath to officers Kelly L. Bradley and Zackery A. Smith at the Board of Public Works and Safety meeting.

He said, “I’m honored to be able to administer these oaths of office. These individuals have worked hard to get to this point – going to the law enforcement academy and demonstrating their ability to be great police officers for the city of Warsaw.”

The city has talked a long time about potentially creating some type of tool to recruit police officers and firefighters, he said.

“There’s a lot of competition for good officers and good firemen, and with the help of Jennifer (Whitaker) in human resources, we have put together a recruitment video for both the police department and fire department. This is being unveiled today. It will be put out on social media and it will be distributed in the appropriate ways to try and recruit more firefighters and policemen,” Thallemer said.

He then introduced the producers and directors of the videos.

Matt Deuel is a producer with One Voice Media, in partnership with Mason Geiger of Mason Geiger Photography & Film.

Deuel said, “We put these pieces together. We started talking with the city back in December about these projects. There were a few priorities that rose to the surface that we really wanted to highlight.”

The first priority was the unity of the departments, he said, and that can be seen in the two videos. The introductions and endings for the videos are the same, with the middles being different to highlight the individual departments.

The second priority was to highlight the community, Deuel said. “What a great city we have here in Warsaw,” he said.

The third was that the videos were fun, “something that really shows some of the personalities of our police officers and firemen. Shows some of the fun that we have in Warsaw, and just lets them show off what they do best,” he said.

The police video was shown first, followed by the fire department video and a blooper reel.

At the end of the video, the website for city jobs is given as warsaw.in.gov/jobs.
