CLAYPOOL – Kosciusko County officials are currently investigating the death of a 17-year-old near Burket, according to a press release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department. Officers arrived and located the victim, Kurt M. Miller, 17, underneath a lawnmower, when KCSD deputies and emergency personnel responded Friday at 5:36 p.m., to the 8200 block of West CR 600S, Claypool, in regards to a machinery accident. Kosciusko County Coroner Michael Wilson was summoned to the scene and pronounced Miller deceased. Wilson stated that the formal determination of death will made later after a scheduled autopsy today at the Northeast Indiana Forensic Center, Fort Wayne. The initial investigation determined that Miller’s clothing had been pulled into the mower pulleys while working on the machinery. KCSD and Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office were assisted at the scene by the Burket Fire Department, Mentone EMS and the Claypool Police Department.
