There is a 5K and 10K, and people may sign up Saturday morning between 7:30 to 8:41 a.m. Registration is at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds in the Women’s Building. The start line is in front of the Shrine Building at the fairgrounds. The first two years were set up to raise funds for the Mental Health Association. With the exception of one year, for the last 14 years the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has been the recipient. Over that period, more than $20,000 has been raised for the specific uses of research and local patient aid. Three Team-In-Training marathoners will be there from LLC to raise funds for the marathons they will be doing next season. There are nine basic kinds of blood cancer. Any patient living in Kosciusko County can be a recipient of funds to help pay for things the insurance does not cover, which includes help in fuel for travel for treatment and doctor appointments. This will be the second year that Run For Fun has used the Radio Frequency Identification Computer Timing chip from the Kosciusko Runners Association. KRA also is a not-for-profit that presents a platform for people to have healthier lifestyles by walking or running, and to provide a means for charities to raise much-needed local funds.
