123 Boy Scout Merit Badges Earned by 14 Members

Since the spring of 2011, 14 members of Boy Scout Troop 715 have earned 123 merit badges.

Troop adult leaders offer various merit badge clinics throughout the year. Last summer, about half of the Scouts attended Anthony Wayne Area Council’s summer camp at Chief Little Turtle near Angola, while the other half went on a two-week Scout trip to hike the Grand Canyon. On both occasions several merit badges were earned. The Scouts also attended other merit badge clinics in the state, plus going to Kalamazoo, Mich., to earn the Aviation Merit Badge.

The accumulation of various awards were giving out at the troop’s annual “Winter Awards Banquet” in December.

Will Bibler earned 12 merit badges and advanced to Second Class, Bryston Canada earned 12 merit bades and advanced to the rank of Life Scout, Juan Davila earned two merit badges and got his Scout rank, Joseph Gilbert earned six and advanced to Tenderfoot, Senior Patrol Leader Nick Hawn earned 14, Dyllan Hernandez earned 14 and got his Second Class Rank, Cameron Ingle got nine and his Tenderfoot Rank, Dillon King earned eight and Tenderfoot, Zachary Laureano got 10, CJ Skaggs earned two and his Scout rank, Wyatt Slone got six, Kole Smith earned 12, Jordan Timbers got six, Austin Whitaker got nine and Adam Zawadzkas earned one and his Scout rank.

Other leaders recognized for their dedication to the Troop program were Trish Hernandez, Lynn DesJardins, Julie Canada, Peggy Timbers, Ron Ingle, Will Slone plus Kevin and Kathy Smith.

Troop 715 members are planning to finish up the Paul Bunyan Patch requirements this weekend.

Merit Badge Clinics being offered in the next month are Truck Transportation, Automobile Maintenance and Citizenship in the Nation.

The group meets each Monday at 7 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church on East Center Street, Warsaw.
