NORTH WEBSTER - Twelve more units will be added to Culver's Hill soon, bringing the number of duplex units to 36 before year's end.
North Webster town council members decided Wednesday, during their regular meeting, to name the circular drive at the top of the hill Summit Circle.
Ten duplexes were dedicated in 1998. They are developed for residents age 62 and older, of low- to moderate-income, and owned by the Housing Assistance Office, South Bend.
D.J. Construction Co. Inc. is contractor for the project. Bart Culver donated the land in 1995. There is room for a maximum of 48 units on the property, located off Epworth Forest Road behind the United Methodist Church.
Public works supervisor Marshall Minnick discussed work on CR 650E and Crystal Flash Road. He requested a flowable fill, a sand and concrete slurry, be used to shore up the roadway.
Calling the $43-per-square-yard material a solution to the settling problem, Minnick asked if he could make a bid change to add it to Crystal Flash Road reconstruction.
Clerk Peg Lawrance said she thought changes to awarded bids had to be under 20 percent of the costs, otherwise the project would have to be rebid.
The council also set a public meeting June 21 at 7 p.m. in the North Webster Elementary School for citizens to discuss future plans for the building and grounds.
The town is in receipt of a $40,000 planning grant from the Indiana Department of Commerce. Input from citizens is part of the planning process.
In other business, the council:
Heard plans from Minnick to vacate the "spur" off Ind. 13 to Backwater Road. The vacation would be coordinated with the state and county highway departments.

Received an official census count of 1,067, up from 881 in the census 10 years ago.
Noted receipt of special COIT disbursements of $60,000.
