LEESBURG - A 10-year-old Warsaw boy was preliminarily charged after allegedly bring marijuana to school Friday.

Authorities were contacted by the Leesburg Elementary School principal after three separate reports were made by students that the boy was allegedly bragging that he had "weed." The boy's backpack was taken from him by the principal, who reportedly found the contraband in a plastic bag inside.

When the boy was confronted, he at first denied that he brought the marijuana to school, then reportedly admitted that he did but would not tell school or law enforcement authorities where he got it.

The boy was taken by police to his home and released to his mother's custody. The student and his mother are to return to the school on Monday to discuss disciplinary action.
