1 Injured In Semi CollisionA semi tractor-trailer driver was injured when his semi rear-ended another one on U.S. 30 near the Ind. 15 overpass Monday shortly before noon.
Warsaw Police Department Public Information Officer Capt. Brad Kellar said that the first semi was either slowed or stopped in traffic when the white semi rear-ended the trailer of the first semi, causing extensive damage.
The driver of the white semi suffered serious injuries, possibly to the pelvic region, Kellar said. The injured driver was flown from the scene to South Bend Memorial and surgery was being scheduled for him, Kellar said.
The driver of the semi that was rear-ended was not hurt and cooperated with the collision investigation, Kellar said.
The eastbound lanes of U.S. 30 were closed for about four hours and opened up at 4 p.m.
Kosciusko County Emergency Management Director Ed Rock and Indiana Department of Environmental Management were contacted about the leaking of gas and oil in the area.
No further information was available as of press time Monday night.
Along with the WPD, responding agencies included the Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory, Lutheran EMS, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana Department of Natural Resources and Kosciusko County Emergency Management Agency.
