1 Injured In Road Construction Zone Crash TIPPECANOE TOWNSHIP – A woman was taken to the hospital Tuesday after a vehicle she was riding in was rear-ended in a construction zone.
According to Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Sgt. Chris Francis, police were called at 1:29 p.m. Tuesday to Ind. 13, north of CR 200N, in Tippecanoe Township for a two-vehicle collision.
According to investigating deputies, a 2008 Chrysler Town and Country minivan, driven by Charles N. Hess, 56, of Warsaw, was slowed or stopped in road construction traffic in the northbound lane of Ind. 13. The traffic was under direction of a flag crew when Roni K. Newsome, 18, of Warsaw, driving a 2007 Nissan Versa, also traveling north on Ind. 13, failed to stop before striking the Chrysler in the rear.
Joyce Light, 56, of Warsaw, a passenger in the Chrysler, was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to Francis.
Motorists are reminded to exercise extreme caution while traveling through work zones, Francis said.
KCSO was assisted at the scene by North Webster Police Department and the North Webster/Tippecanoe Township Fire Department.
