BURKET - A Claypool man is in critical condition at a Fort Wayne hospital this morning after an all-terrain vehicle crash late last night.

David E. Wright, 23, of Turner Road, Claypool, reportedly crashed a Honda Recon ATV on Scott Road, 750 feet south of Swan Court, near Palestine Lake, shortly before midnight Sunday.

Around 11:23 p.m., the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department responded to a call about a four-wheeler on its side with the rider lying at the edge of Scott Road.

When officers arrived, they found Wright unconscious with multiple head injuries and internal injuries.

Wright was airlifted to Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, by the Samaritan Air Ambulance. He was listed in critical condition at Parkview Hospital this morning.

According to the Kosciusko County crash investigation team, Wright was southbound on Scott Road when the ATV he was riding rolled over for an unknown reason.

Neighbors in the area told officers that they had seen Wright driving continually on the roadway Sunday evening before the accident.

Wright was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation pending the results of a legal alcohol and drug test.
