1 Airlifted After One-Vehicle AccidentA Warsaw man was airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital after a one-vehicle accident Thursday morning.
According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office accident report, at approximately 1:53 a.m. Thursday, Damien W. Petersen, 32, South Detroit Street, Warsaw, was traveling east on CR 250N. Upon approaching the intersection of CR 250N and CR 100E, he failed to stop at a stop sign and proceeded through the intersection.
Petersen’s vehicle exited the east side of CR 100E and hit a utility pole. Petersen then drove through an agricultural field of soybeans and overturned several times before coming to rest on the vehicle’s wheels.
Petersen was able to exit the vehicle. However, two unidentified people were seen by witnesses running from the scene.
Petersen said he only remembered the collision and couldn’t provide further information.
Petersen also emitted the odor of alcohol and blew a 0.121 breath alcohol content when given a portable breathalyzer, according to the accident report. An operating while under the influence investigation was then initiated.
Petersen was taken by air ambulance to Fort Wayne Lutheran Hospital for a complaint of back pain.
