SANTE FE, N.M. — Lynn Maish Babcock, 78, died July 11, 2017, in Santa Fe. She was born Feb. 1, 1939, in Warsaw, to the late Wilbur F. and Violet Maish. She graduated from Warsaw High School in 1957 and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from DePauw University in 1961. She married Dr. James Babcock in 1963. They lived in Indianapolis until 1975, when they moved to Bluffton, where he practiced orthopedic surgery. Lynn raised three children and had a long career as a registered nurse in a variety of positions, mainly pediatrics and home health care. The couple retired to Santa Fe in 2008.

Born Feb. 12, 1921, in Washington Township, Whitley County, she was the daughter of John and Dora Nancy Sievers Kneller. She graduated from Washington Center High School, earned a bachelor's degree in education from Huntington University, a master’s degree in counseling from Purdue University and a master’s degree in elementary education from St. Francis University. She completed the class work toward her doctorate at Michigan State University, along with licensing as a reading specialist. She was honored as an outstanding language arts teacher while teaching in Illinois.

Faye Marie Meier, of Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, passed away at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at Grace Village Health Care at the age of 81. She was born April 7, 1936, in Valparaiso, to Ocie Esther Clark and Arthur Holmgren. On Nov. 28, 1959, she was married to E. Jack Meier, who survives in Winona Lake. Faye was a 1955 graduate of LaCrosse High School, LaCrosse. She attended Purdue University in West Lafayette and received her bachelor’s degree in interior decorating in 1959 and her master’s degree in education in 1961. Faye was a resident of Kosciusko County for the past 27 years. She will be dearly missed and forever loved by her friends and family.

Robert “Bob” David Wayman, 53, of Winona Lake, went to be with our Lord in the early morning hours on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at his residence. Bob was born on Aug. 13, 1963, in Hammond to the late Eugene Frank Wayman and Claudia Carrie Thornton Wayman, who survives in Valparaiso. He graduated from Hobart High School in 1981, and attended Purdue University. He was a resident of Kosciusko County for the past 22 years. Bob initially worked in construction and later on he worked as a structural engineer and construction project manager. Subsequently, he was an entrepreneur, developer and most recently owned a surveying instrument business, Midwest Construction Equipment in Warsaw, for the past 11 years. Marcia M. Stokes, 83, passed away Friday, July 14, 2017, at 7:05 a.m. in Grace Village Healthcare, Winona Lake. She was born Jan. 23, 1934, in Warsaw, to Merritt and Eva Becraft Hartman and was a 1952 graduate of Warsaw High School. In the fall of 1953, Marcia met Stanley Stokes. They married April 7, 1954. Except for the past four years of living in Winona Lake, she lived most of her life in Warsaw. Marcia was employed by First National Bank as a bookkeeper during the mid-seventies and eighties. In 1983, while working at the bank, she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, which forced her to leave her job shortly after. In the 1970s, she and Stan operated a miniature golf course (next to the YMCA and now the Baker Youth Club on Smith Street). Marcia was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing Bridge and Bunco. And she and Stan enjoyed ballroom dancing. Marcia was a devoted wife, good mom and a loving grandma. She loved her cat, Abby. She was a good cook. Marcia always said she had a wonderful life. Those left with memories to cherish are Stan, her husband of 63 years; two daughters: Shari (Paul) Stokes Gores, of Brookfield, Wis.; Susan (Ken) Stokes Boothe, Dublin, Ohio; three grandchildren: Jared Gores, of Mountain View, Calif.; Tom Gores, of Sussex, Wis.; and Emily Grace Boothe, Dublin; and a brother, Allan (Lynn) Hartman, of Plymouth. Marcia was preceded in her passing by a daughter, Kathy Lee Stokes (Aug. 5, 1957) and a sister, Beverly Fifer (Aug. 27, 2015). Friends will join the family for a time of remembrance Tuesday, July 18, from 10 a.m. to noon at Titus Funeral Home. A celebration of Marcia’s life will follow beginning at noon in the funeral home. Ernie Troxell, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, Warsaw, will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. SYRACUSE — Marilyn Kay Wright Grindle, 79, formerly of North Webster, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017. She was born to Clarence and Anna Baumgarten Wright on April 9, 1938. She married Theodore Grindle on June 3, 1956. They had five girls in three years, including two sets of twins: Debra (Mitch) Day, Gay Grindle (deceased), Kim Hershberger (deceased), Jan (Ted) McMurtrey and Jill Grindle. We were the apples of her eye — until grandchildren came along. Then we watched her heart grow tenfold as each one arrived: Amie Koontz, Melissa Koontz-Garboden, Krista Oldenburg, Megan Smeltzer, Andrew Hershberger, Sara Warnke, Sasha Byrd-Long, Amanda Bogue, Diana Buxton, Eric Allen, Adam Loftis and Taylor Loftis.
