Wawasee Girls Nail Northridge

SYRACUSE - It wasn't supposed to be so easy for the Wawasee Warriors girls basketball team in the first round of the sectional Tuesday night. The first time Wawasee and Northridge tangled, the game went down to the wire, and this one was expected to be the same. This time, the game was never really in doubt as the Warriors stifling defense held the Raiders to 25-percent shooting from the floor and just one three-pointer in 17 attempts. That translated into a 43-29 Wawasee victory and the right to advance to the semifinal round on Friday. "We had that attitude that you get when you just expect to win," Wawasee head coach Mark Sumpter said."There was no doubt in their mind that they were going to win tonight." The Warriors got production from almost everyone that stepped on the floor Friday night whether starter or backup.

Positivity Amid Strife

Recently, a friend in recovery sent me an inspirational handout called “Time out from the River of Life.” It was very positive and describes life as a powerful river that we are born into, must learn to swim and make the best out of being part of the flow. This sparked thoughts of how true this is, and how much I really love a metaphor.

Get Involved, Get Informed, Then Vote

There is a very important election coming up on Nov.7. And not just because it happens to be a presidential election year. There are several local races to be determined in this year's election. And voting in those races is very important. Many times, those races are decided by just a handful of votes. Sometimes those races are decided by one or two votes. So the old "what difference can one vote make" excuse just doesn't hold water. Your vote counts. If you're not registered, it's too late for this election, so make sure you get registered for the next election. If you are registered, get to the polls and vote.It really is important. It's important at all levels - local, state and national. But it is especially important at the local level.
