- Jobless Recovery - Wonderful Peace - 50/50 Grant - Holiday Storm Jobless Recovery Editor, Times-Union: A jobless recovery. There is an oxymoron. Here are some others: a thunderous silence, a waterless well, a sandless desert, a treeless forest.Whereas oxymorons are generally silly, joblessness isn't. I'm always more acutely aware of what people say and do when I'm jobless. Have you ever noticed the "help wanted" ads here in the local paper? The same ones appear every day.I don't believe they've hired anybody in 10 years. So those ads are like what ...a hand of hope? Someone needs to inform Combined Community Services that what they tout as a job list is, instead, a list of companies that hire, albeit infrequently.

Tiger Kickers Looking To Get Defensive

Last year was a historic one for the Warsaw boys soccer program. The Tigers won their third sectional in a row, finished undefeated in the Northern Lakes Conference to capture their first outright conference title and went through the entire regular season undefeated. A big part of Warsaw's success was its formidable defense. Goalkeeper Adam Churchill garnered attention from around the state as one of Indiana's premier keepers. Drew Miles and Keegan McHose proved to be solid as a brick wall for Churchill in the defensive third. Churchill is playing at D-I University of Southern Indiana, while Miles and McHose have also moved on to collegiate life. The Tigers' plan to replace Churchill is the two-pronged attack of keepers Aaron Hammon and Justin Evans.Hammon, a senior, and Evans, a sophomore, will have added responsibility with an inexperienced defensive third. Evans got the start in Warsaw's first game, a 3-0 win over Munster.

- Singspiration - Pledge Of Allegiance - Grace Village - Purse Found Singspiration Editor, Times-Union: Shame on you, churches of Warsaw, Ind. While you had a tremendous opportunity to participate in a Christian outreach, touching hundreds of lives in the entire Kosciusko area, with a non-denominational Singspiration, you chose to stay within your four walls. On Sunday night, June 23, in Warsaw's lovely Central Park, a small group of theologians planned, set up and presented a wonderful community Singspiration. Many attended this inspiring event, giving glory to God and praises to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.Joyfully singing without fear of condemnation, our voices could be heard all over downtown Warsaw.

Buck, Finnegan Outshine Kline

HUNTINGTON - Warsaw boys basketball coach Al Rhodes said he wanted to make things rough for Huntington North's Sean Kline Thursday. In a 68-60 Warsaw win in overtime, the Tigers did just that. Kline scored 17 points and pulled down 11 rebounds but fouled out with 3:35 remaing in the fourth quarter. With Kline on the bench, 6-foot-4 Tiger senior Josh Buck took control of the game. Buck scored five points in the last 3:35 of the fourth and then six in the overtime, including the game's final four points. "Josh Buck has always played well against Kline," Rhodes said."If he (Kline) was near the basket, we wanted all the help we could get." Rhodes said he moved 6-7 senior Paul Finnegan to the outside to open up the middle for Buck and Greg Clay. His plan worked. Finnegan scored 10 points in the first quarter and finished with a career-high 19.Buck led all scorers with 26, while Clay added 14.
