Mary Anne Railsback

March 19, 2025 at 8:08 p.m.

Mary Anne Railsback passed away in her home in Lake Placid, Fla., on March 15, 2025, after a years-long battle with diabetes. She was 67.
She was born in Wells Village, Minnesota, on Oct. 7, 1957, to Gordon and Darlene Woitas. Mary spent the majority of her life in Kosciusko County, where she married Joseph Railsback Jr. on July 10, 1982.
The couple had a wealth of family and friends in Indiana, but the warm sun of Florida was too hard to resist. They purchased a home in Florida in 2009 and moved there full-time in 2014. Mary spent endless hours on the water and caring for her garden, where no weed was safe from her.
She had a great love for animals including her parrots, canaries, horses and her faithful dog Kate. She also enjoyed sewing and embroidery.
In recent years, diabetes stole much from Mary, but never her quiet devotion to her family. She was everyone’s mom.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Railsback, Lake Placid; two sons, Jeremy (Tanisha) Railsback, of Fort Wayne; and Jason Railsback, of Sebring, Fla.; three grandchildren: Nick Railsback, of Warsaw; Ashton Railsback, of Fort Wayne; and Audrey Railsback, of Sebring, Fla.; and a sister, Kim Boren, of Syracuse.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, Don Woitas.

Four Months
Editor, Times-Union: It took 250 years to build a nation that was the envy of the world. It took four months to tear it down. Countries that once admired, envied, and emulated us … countries that had our backs and gave their support and spilled their own blood defending us in our times of need … now unite against us in fear, disappointment, and disbelief. Countries that once were our greatest adversaries now laugh at us and relish our downfall and weakness. America is no longer first in anything; it is alone.
