Goshen Teen Injured In Bicycle-Truck Accident With Syracuse Teen

ELKHART COUNTY - A teenager was injured when a vehicle hit her and the bicycle she was riding Monday.
According to an Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office crash news release, the accident occurred at 5:55 p.m. Monday at CRs 42 and 33.
A 2011 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Stetson Schmucker, 17, Syracuse, was traveling west on CR 42 and passed the intersection with CR 33 South. The Silverado continued straight when it collided with Delilah Schrock, 14, Goshen, on a red bicycle. Schrock had been traveling west on CR 42.
The news release states the bicycle got stuck under the Silverado and was dragged.
Schmucker stopped the Silverado, got out of the vehicle and found Schrock in the grass.
Schrock suffered injuries to her face, left ankle and left shoulder. She was conscious and breathing before being transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend via medical air flight.
Schmucker was put through the standardized field sobriety test and did not show signs of impairment.
Neither drugs nor alcohol appeared to be a contributing factor to the accident, the release states.
ECSO deputies are investigating the crash and looking into enforcement action, according to the release.
The Silverado sustained front damage. The bicycle sustained damage to the rear tire and frame.
