The Nappanee community gathered Thursday at McDonald's, 1540 E. Market St., to celebrate the restaurant's new owner/operator, Billy Boldt Jr. The event featured remarks from Mayor Phil Jenkins, Nappanee Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Bill Dutkowski, a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly opened playplace, a special appearance by Grimace, free gifts for kids and food giveaways for attendees.
Boldt Jr. officially took over ownership of the Nappanee McDonald's in January. "Being in the McDonald's business is more than just flipping burgers - it's about creating meaningful relationships, whether with customers or employees," said Boldt. "I want my employees to feel respected and valued. I lead by example, whether that means working alongside my team or listening to their feedback."
"We've had a great relationship with the Nappanee community over the years," Boldt said. "I'm excited to be here, serve the community, and contribute to its growth. I'm here for the long haul. I want to build something that lasts and continues to serve this community for generations to come."
Boldt's family remains actively involved in the McDonald's business, with his daughter Lilly currently serving as a manager at the McDonald's in Knox.
