An open discussion will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Zimmer Biomet Center Lake Pavilion in Warsaw that is intended to help decipher and explain some of the public policy changes associated with the federal government.
The meeting will be hosted by the Law Office of Travis J. McConnell.
While various issues like federal job cuts and funding cuts will be discussed, much of the discussion will delve into immigration policy changes led by President Donald Trump.
“There’s a lot of fear about recent stuff that’s going on. People are worked up, so I wanted to do my part to explain what’s going on, what it looks like for our community in particular,” McConnell said.
He said his office began receiving calls soon after Trump’s Jan. 20 inauguration.
“For the first two weeks, we were inundated with calls … not just people calling, possible clients with concern, (but) federal employees who are worrying about losing their jobs,” McConnell said.
McConnell said the meeting will focus on policy rather than the politics of the changes.
The event will be livestreamed as well for those preferring to attend remotely.
