PIERCETON — Pierceton Town Council opened four bids for its upcoming sidewalk project during its special council meeting Wednesday.
The town is planning to construct a 6footwide sidewalk, with ADA ramps, on School Street to Third Street and then on Third Street from School Street to Catholic Street.
Bid amounts and the companies that submitted bids are: SiteWorx, $420,198.53; 1st Brooks Construction, $425,186; Premium Concrete Services, doing business as Premium Services, $483,813; and Phend & Brown, $399,059.
All of the bids were taken under advisement, and the recommended firm will then be checked by the Michiana Area Council of Governments.
Prior to the bids being opened, Council Vice President Matt Brubaker said the town received an email from a resident requesting an additional public meeting regarding the sidewalk project.
Brubaker said there have been multiple public meetings, including prior to the decision on the project being made, and made a motion to deny having an additional meeting. The rest of the council approved Brubaker's motion.
Council also approved an official contract with LexLil for the town's park improvement work at PiercetonWashington Township Park. The work includes two dugouts at the softball field, basketball court, tennis court, and pickleball court.
Pierceton Council's next regular meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 14.
