Local High School Sports Recaps For Wednesday, May 22

Girls Tennis Regional
Despite the team season being over, Warsaw girls tennis had three athletes competing in the IHSAA individual state tournament Wednesday evening, all advancing to the next round.
The Lady Tigers No. 1 singles player Addie Lind continued her dominance this spring, defeating Northridge’s Saige Wheatley 6-0, 6-0 to improve to 24-0 this season. The No. 1 doubles pairing of Claire Reichenbach and Clara Porter defeated Concord’s Dani Aplin and Addi May 6-3, 6-2.
Both Lind and Reichenbach/Porter competed Thursday evening to advance to the next round. Results will be in tomorrow’s paper.
Baseball Sectionals
Manchester vs. Wabash

A fantastic season for Manchester baseball came to an end Wednesday night, as the Squires fell 3-2 to Rochester in eight innings in the first round of the IHSAA 2A Baseball Sectional at Wabash. Manchester ends the year with a 20-7-1 record.
The two teams were scoreless after seven, with all five runs in the game being scored in the eighth. Garrett Sites had two hits, while Riess Gaerte had a hit and drove in both Squire runs. Gavin Martin and Ethan Hendri both scored. Evan Martynowicz struck out nine in 7.2 innings pitched.
Manchester will return next season.
Whitko vs. Central Noble
Whitko was able to move on to the semifinals of the IHSAA 2A sectional at Eastside Wednesday evening, defeating Central Noble 6-4 to advance. The Wildcats are now 14-10-2 this spring.
Kaden Ciccia-Long had two hits and scored two runs for Whitko in the win. Logan Hoffman had two hits and an RBI. Max Platt also scored two runs. Riley Harman and Breyden Kirkdorffer each had an RBI. Daton Day struck out five and gave up three earned runs in the victory.
Whitko will take on Westview Saturday morning for a spot in the sectional championship game.
Softball Sectionals
Whitko vs. Fort Wayne Bishop Luers

Whitko’s season came to an end Wednesday night in the semifinals of the IHSAA 2A Softball Sectional at South Adams, as the Lady ‘Cats fell 10-6 to Fort Wayne Bishop Luers. Whitko ends the season with a 7-16 record.
Isabelle Harman had a hit and drove in three runs in the loss. Addie Gar went 2-3 with two RBIs and a home run. Kaylee Adkins also had a two-hit night. Taylor Long scored two runs in the game. Cassidy Skinner struck out five in 6.1 innings on the mound.
Whitko will return next season.
Triton at Westville
Triton’s season ended Wednesday night as the Lady Trojans fell 10-0 to the IHSAA 1A sectional host Westville in six innings. The Lady Trojans end the season with a 4-16 record.
No stats were available for Triton. The Lady Trojans will return next season.
